A production system is more than the application code. It includes environments, data movement, monitoring, security, release workflows, documentation and ownership.
Start from the operating model
Before selecting frameworks, clarify who uses the system, who operates it, how failures are detected, how releases happen and what evidence is needed when something goes wrong. Those decisions influence architecture more than most library choices.
Make important behaviour observable and reversible. Fast delivery is sustainable when teams can see what changed, measure impact and roll back safely.
Build quality into the workflow
Automated checks should be proportional to risk. Unit tests protect logic, integration tests validate real dependencies, browser tests protect critical user journeys, and monitoring validates production behaviour.
release = spec + review + tests + observability + rollback_planDocument decisions, not just features
Architecture decision records, API contracts and runbooks preserve the reasoning future engineers need when requirements change.
